Yummy diabetes!

Got to start learning how to live with type 2 diabetes, now. Big diet changes, not much that I can do on the exercise side, with my bad back.
My tasty friends, carbohydrates, gone. No more piping hot Mc'Donalds fries. Ice Cream, nope. Hello sherbet. :P
Adding more pills to my retinue. My medicine cabinet is now looking like my grandparents. Oh, save me from the clutches of the pharmaceutical industry!
Anyone know if weed helps your blood sugar levels? Oops, I already know that answer.. NO. :)

My new hobby is RV'ing, and FINALLY being able to have the time to go see the United States, from coast to coast. Been hitting all of the forums, watching YouTube videos, and perusing Craigslist to find a Class A Diesel pusher that will give us years of home on wheels comfort.

I come upon this video on YouTube today, and I just had to share this with my readers. I cannot believe the stupidity of this RV driver. Just watch it, and you will see. The first 5 minutes are kinda dull, feel free to skip to the last few minutes.

Took my Pug, and my wife's nasty cat to be fixed yesterday. Cat came out in perfect shape, but my puggie acted like a stoner for the rest of the day. Next morning...She was back to her normal, irritating self.

Just a few more days left until Spring arrives, and the temperatures here in Oklahoma are already getting spring like. Only a few more days for me to get the shrubs trimmed/pulled before they start budding out. Already seeing a few wasps and flies...With the mild winter we had this year, I'm expecting a bumper crop o' bugs! Last year, we got invaded early by Crane Flies, look like HUGE mosquitoes, and are EVERYWHERE!! Two weeks of them suckers in every crack and crevice of the house, and almost impossible to go outdoors without being swarmed by em. Mind you, Crane Flies have no mouth, nor stinger. They just live to breed, then they die.

Well, we are almost a week into the dreaded SEQUESTER. Ho, Hum! Already there is wailing and the gnashing of teeth from Republicans who's sacred cows are being nicked.
I was worried about it, until I realized that overall, the cuts are minimal, and only do away with the increases the agencies got last season.
Still, Congress should pass legislation allowing departments to target areas that can be cut, but achieving the same amount of reduction. Common sense.

Won't happen.

This is why I'm ashamed to be an Oklahoman.. (One of many reasons, lately.)

Oklahoma Idiots at Play, AGAIN

As I sit here at my computer, with a relaxed Pug by the space heater, a scent invades my nose. Smells like recycled wet dog food.

Isn't that the truth?
With just a few days left until virtual Armageddon, ie: The sequester, Both sides are steadfastly holding their ground.

I don't see a last minute deal happening this time, and frankly, I'm glad. I'm sick and tired of jumping from crisis to crisis, ALWAYS created by House Republicans. Boehner has his hands tied dealing with a fractured caucus, and the baggers think compromise is for losers.

This IS going to HURT, and HURT bad. Meat-axe cuts to the budget always do. I'd like to see an agreement where you get the same amount of deficit reduction to defense and discretionary spending with a BALANCED amount of cuts vs tax code changes. Allowing departments to cut spending where their mission is not jeopardized is the best way to handle budget cuts, but I would INSIST that the Defense budget's cuts not be reduced, only targeted.

The so-called recovery will be stopped, or even slide back into recession if the sequester goes into effect, which will......LOWER TAX REVENUES further, making the deficit even worse. I don't like this at all. State budgets, already strained, will be hit even greater due to the impasse in DC. The ripple effects will be astounding if an agreement is not reached. However, if an agreement does not include revenue, or tax code changes, reduced Federal spending will still affect consumer spending, and State tax revenues, for the worse. How much, I have no idea.

Will sanity prevail, and an agreement reached that does not gut safety net programs, and add the needed tax code changes so that the economy isn't harmed by just spending cuts?

I doubt it...

More to come.

1st Post, and Welcome!

After having long, thoughtful posts on Facebook, I decided to narrow it down a bit, and put my rants and raves in a more focused area, therefore, this blog.

Firstly, I would consider myself a moderate Democrat, but I do believe in firm employer sanctions and E-Verify for ALL hires in the United States.

Most, of my blogging will center on US Politics, Immigration issues, and occasionally,an aside about a pair of extremely gassy black Pugs.

Being new to blogging, my page may look a bit plain, and sometimes may be a bit off. Bear with me as I learn the ropes of beautifying the page, and do my level best to spread the word.

Be advised, Roaring Teabaggers will be at least ignored, and at best, banned. I don't need to spend any more time dealing with high blood pressure, and stress. I greatly love being able to have an adult conversation, but for the most part, Teabaggers use insults and personal attacks to emphasize their ignorance of basic facts. I don't need to get myself stirred up talking to a virtual brick wall.

More to come.....
